1 # Rebind: Button & Key Remap 2 3 Rebind remaps the hardware buttons of an Android 12+ device: volume keys, the 4 Power button, page-turn buttons, camera and assistant keys, and the AI key of 5 the Viwoods AiPaper. Choose tap, double tap, triple 27 tap or hold. Choose what it does. Rebind asks only for what that needs. 28 - Two buttons together make a combination. 29 - Actions: Back, Home, Recent apps, page turn (swipe or scroll), voice typing, 30 lock screen, screenshot, open an app or a shortcut, media keys, brightness, 31 a menu of actions, and more. 32 - The Power button: hold and double press work on any device. With 33 [Shizuku](https://github.com/RikkaApps/Shizuku), every Power press works: 34 tap, double tap, triple tap, hold. 35 - An on-screen button that floats over every app, for devices with few buttons. 36 - Recent apps made for e-ink: a button opens 37 [Ink Recents](https://github.com/equwal/ink-recents), our free and open 38 source recent-apps app. Cards with no glide, swipe up to close an app, swipe 39 down to close all the others. 40 - Carries apps of other makers, not changed, and installs them when you ask: 41 inkOS and ThinkLauncher (home screens made for e-ink, GPL-3.0), Ink Recents 42 (GPL-3.0) and Whisper (speech to text on the device, MIT). Android asks you before each 43 install. Rebind downloads nothing: it has no internet permission. 44 - Navigation in any mix of button bar, gestures and the Power button (needs 45 Shizuku or an adb grant). 46 - Extra-dim frontlight below the lowest system level (needs Shizuku with root). 47 - Export and import of all settings as one JSON file. Rebind also keeps an 48 automatic copy in `Documents/Rebind/`, which stays after an uninstall. 49 - Updates: [Ink Update](https://github.com/equwal/ink-update) tells you when a 50 new version is ready. Download `rebind-<version>-full.apk` from Releases and open it. 64 2. Open Rebind. Tap a button in the drawing and follow the steps. 65 3. If the accessibility switch turns itself off: App info > three-dot menu > 66 Allow restricted settings.
